How to complete the empadronamiento online in Palma

The empadronamiento (municipal census registration) is an important step to establish your legal residence in Palma, whether you are a local resident or a newcomer. This guide makes the process as clear and simple as possible — all from home, online.

What documents do I need?

If you rent:

• A current, up-to-date rental (or purchase) contract
• A rent payment receipt issued by the bank
• Your ID scanned on both sides

If you own the property

• Your ID scanned on both sides
• The property deed

1. You will need a digital certificate

For the online registration a Digital Certificate is essential: a file issued by a certifying authority that verifies your identity online. In Spain one of the most common authorities is the FNMT — and we are also a certifying authority, if you want to get yours quickly: choose the authority, complete the online application, validate your identity in person and receive your certificate (.p12/.pfx).

2–3. Scan well and fill in the application

Use a good scanner (or a scanning app) for clear images. In the application: identify it in the header, provide your complete and up-to-date personal details plus the procedure-specific information, and sign it — by hand or with your digital certificate.

4. Log in to RedSARA

RedSARA (reg.redsara.es) is the network used in Spain for online dealings with the administration. Log in with your digital certificate (it must match the person registering). Body: L01070407 – Ayuntamiento de Palma. Subject: “Empadronamiento OAC PALMA – Full name”. Explain your situation (contract/deed, address in Palma) and request enrolment on the census with confirmation by email. Attach: ID both sides, the application sheet, deed or contract, and the rent receipt.

5. Wait for the town hall’s confirmation email

The authority will review your documents and information. If everything is correct, the application is accepted; if something is missing, you will be told what to correct. That’s it!
